Henry Sue Circular Tong Long Authorised Affiliate CKFA Branch

The Sherwood branch of Henry Sue Circular Tong Long is dedicated to teaching the fighting arts of Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Learning both the internal (yin) and external (yang) elements eliminates differences in physical size and strength allowing practitioners to fight calmly and effortlessly.

Training is designed to ensure skills are developed by focusing the mind, body and spirit using discipline, determination, humility, and respect. While also ensuring students learn in a friendly and relaxed environment that promotes an understanding of balancing training with commitments to family and work.

Young Mantis (6 to 12 years) classes are designed to foster self-confidence and develop personal skills that encourage kids to become the best version of themselves. Teaching a modified version of the adult Kung Fu curriculum the number one priority is fostering a fun and safe environment where kids naturally thrive. With a focus on martial morality, classes aim to develop courage, character, behaviour, and attitude while providing a good workout that builds coordination, motor skills, balance, flexibility, and fitness. We cultivate kids who have respect and appreciation for parents, teachers, instructors, and other mentors facilitating character development that will help your child to lead a successful life well into the future.

Tai Chi – There is a prevailing misconception that Tai Chi is just for the elderly. Don’t let its gentleness fool you as classes will provide you with immeasurable benefits, regardless of your age. Regular Tai Chi classes improve bone density, joint mobility, leg strength, concentration, a more flexible waist, and a calmer mind. Work up a sweat while slowing your heart rate and improving your breathing via an increased lung capacity. Practicing martial arts? Tai Chi classes will improve your fighting ability by teaching you how to balance your body for maximum energy output, how to deal with oncoming force, and how to achieve external softness while maintaining internal hardness.

Kung Fu Fundamentals, Fitness and Self-Defence classes are 10-week short courses for people who can’t or don’t want to commit to a dedicated martial arts lifestyle but are looking to make a difference in or to change their current condition. The short course repeats 4 times a year and has 3 levels of development. No gradings.

Kung Fu classes deliver a graded curriculum built upon the ancient Kung Fu styles of Southern Praying Mantis, Eagle Claw and Cotton Palm, this modern take incorporates the principles of Yang and Chen Tai Chi. Understand how to deliver maximum power through correct internal and external body mechanics and positioning. Learn how to produce devastating power in strikes from a very short distance via the progressive practice of Ying (shape), Yi (mind), Hai (breath), Sun (focus) and Gung (power).
